Question – As Salamu^alaykum, My question is! What’s the judgment and authority of a non Muslim parent have over their Muslim daughter or Son?
Also what duties or house hold chores are they allowed to assist their parents with?
Thank you, -As Salamu^alaykum.

Anwser – Praise be to Allah and may Allah raise the rank of our dear Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him).

In this case one is to act according to the Qur’anic verse [Luqman: 15] which means: [But if they strive to make you join in worship with Allah things for which there is no basis, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration)].

This person is asked to bring out in his interaction with them the morality and virtue of Islam. The person can also help them out with normal house duties, but he or she does not obey them in matters that are in disobedience to Allah.
