Support each other in goodness and in what increases love amongst you, in this virtuous month of Ramadan.

In doing so, Darufatwa organized another enormous annual Ramadan Dinner in Sydney playing host to many distinguished guests including Sheikhs, The Hon.Barbara Perry, In her capacity as Minister for Local Government, Minister for Juvenile Justice, Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health):

The Hon.Paul Lynch,In his capacity as Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Commerce, Minister for Energy, Minister for Public Sector Reform, and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs government officials and representatives, community leaders.

Zakah

All praise is due to Allah The Exalted, and may Allah raise the rank of our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, his kind relatives and companions, and protect his nation from that which he feared for them thereafter.

It is obligatory for one to pay Zakah on:

1. Camels, cattle, sheep and goats;

2. Dates, raisins, and staple crops;

3. Gold, silver, the gold and silver ores, and the golden and silver treasure-troves (rikaz);

4. Trade articles;

5. The Fitr.

Zakah of Fitr

The Zakah of Fitr is due on every Muslim who is alive part of Ramadan and part of Shawwal (the month after Ramadan.) The due Zakah for each is a “sa^” or four times of a pair of average-sized hands cupped together filled with the most common staple food of one's area. It is an obligation upon the Muslim to pay the due Zakah for one and one's Muslim dependants if on the day of the Feast of Fitr (^Id-ul- Fitr) and the night after it he has enough to meet one's debts, clothing, lodging, and sustenance, and the sustenance of those whom one must support.

Determining the beginning of Ramadan

The obligation of fasting the month of Ramadan begins upon the occurrence of one of two matters:

1. To sight the crescent of Ramadan after the sunset of the 29th day of Sha^ban (the month directly preceding Ramadan) or, if the crescent is not seen,
2. Completing thirty (30) days of Sha^ban.
