Brothers in faith and Islam, know, may Allah have mercy on you and guide you, that Allah Who created us and provided us with many endowments deserves to be worshipped and not denied, to be obeyed and not disobeyed, and to be thanked and not denied. Despite the trials and high costs, we still enjoy many of Allah‘s endowments day and night. Surat An-Nahl, verse 18 means: [And if you try to count the endowments of Allah, you will not enumerate them]. Every endowment we have in terms of health and well-being in religion, self, children, wealth, and possessions is from Allah.

Brothers in faith: Surat Al-Balad, verses 8 to 10 mean: [Did We not make for him two eyes? And a tongue and two lips? And have shown him the two ways?]. How many endowments do you have in yourself, your family, and your wealth? It would take too long to list even some of Allah’s endowments upon us. Shouldn’t you then thank Allah, fear Him, and prepare for the day you will be held accountable even for the drop of ink with which you wrote things that Allah does not accept? What about the numerous endowments which you used to disobey Allah? Surat Al-^Imran, verse 30 means: [On the Day when everyone will find all the good and evil he has done present before him. Then, he will wish there were a far distance between him and his evil. And Allah warns you of His Punishment, and Allah is Merciful to His slaves]. Also, Surat Al-Ma‘idah, verse 98 means: [Know that Allah’s punishment is severe, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful]. In these two verses, there is warning, encouragement, and fear. The wise person is the one who obeys Allah and avoids His disobedience, and the greatest of these sins is blasphemy, may Allah protect us.

Many people claim to be loving and glorifying Allah, but in fact, they are blasphemers without realising. You see them unable to endure trials, and they leave faith for disbelief and light for darkness. They might curse Allah, saying things like “May your Lord be cursed” or attribute children or spouses to Him, like saying “sister of your Lord” or “son of Allah,” or object to Allah‘s decrees.

Know that likening Allah to His creation is blasphemy and is classified as swearing at Him. Attributing a place or direction to Allah is blasphemy. Any word, action, or belief that belittles Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, His promises (like Paradise and rewards), or His warnings (like Hellfire and punishment), such as someone saying about Hellfire “we’ll warm ourselves by it,” is blasphemy. One must be extremely cautious of this because the only sin that Allah does not forgive for those who die upon it is blasphemy, may Allah protect us.

Therefore, anyone who has fallen into blasphemy must immediately renounce it by declaring the Shahadah (the two testifications of faith).

Dear brothers in Islam, stand firm in faith and obedience to Allah, for the Hereafter is better than this world, and this world cannot compensate for the Hereafter. It is said: “If the world preserves one’s religion, then anything else one misses out of it does not harm.”

If you thank a creation who has done good to you, you should be more inclined to thank the Almighty Creator who has provided you with every endowment. If someone from the creation has done good to you, it is by Allah’s Will. So, among Allah’s endowments upon you is that He enabled someone to do good to you.

Turn to your Lord’s obedience, thank Him, seek His mercy, and fear His punishment. Remember that Allah sees you, knows about you, has power over you, is great, and does whatever He wills. Let your heart be filled with awe and reverence for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

Anyone who has fallen into blasphemy must hasten to repent by returning to Islam with the Shahadah, ceasing the acts of apostasy, intending in their heart never to return to them, and regretting what has occurred. Merely seeking forgiveness without returning to Islam by saying the Shahadah and ceasing apostasy is not sufficient. It will only increase the sin and blasphemy as it implies belying Allah’s Words, as if saying: “My Lord, You said that You do not forgive the blasphemer, yet I ask You to contradict Yourself and forgive me.” This is blasphemy and misguidance, so be warned.

I seek Allah’s forgiveness for myself and for you and Allah knows best.
