Fight the devil

We start with the name of Allah.

We praise Allah and thank Him for the blessing of Islam. We humbly ask Allah to raise the rank of our Prophet Muhammad, his kind Al and Companions, and to protect his nation from what he fears for it. We humbly ask Allah to grant us the proper intentions, the knowledge, and the reward in the Hereafter.

Ayah 10 in Surat-ul-Hujurat means:

“ The Believers are indeed brothers. So make peace and reconciliation between any two brothers, and fear Allah so that He may have mercy on you”.

From the route of Abu Ruqayyah Tamim bin Aws ad-Dari, may Allah accept his deeds, as narrated by Muslim that the Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said what means:

The religion rests on a set of essential matters the slave is advised to comply with”.

The companions asked: “Andwhat do these matters relate to?”

The prophet answered:”

*       For the slave to have the correct belief in Allah, not to associate partners with Him, and to obey Him with all sincerity

*       For the slave to have the correct belief in the Book of Allah, which means to have the correct belief in the Qur’an, and if it is to be recited to be done in accordance with the rules of proper recitation.

*       For the slave to have the correct belief in the Messenger of Allah and all that he conveyed from Allah

*       For the slave to obey the leaders of the Muslims and to cooperate with them.

*       For the slave to provide advice to the general Muslim public, and guide them to the right path.”

Jarir, the son of Abdullah, said: “We pledged in the presence of the Prophet to perform the obligatory prayers, to pay the due Zakat, and to advise and support every Muslim. Related by Bukariyy and Muslim.

To follow the advice of our dear Prophet sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallamis a very beneficial and helpful matter. An example of this is when you witness a Muslim committing a sin, you should advise him in private to stop the sin and repent, and then if he does you should not backbite or slander him.

Dear brothers in Islam, our great ImamAhmad Ar-Rifa^iyy explained to us how best to fight the devil.

He said: Fight the devil through advising, supporting, and defending one another.

Dear brothers in Islam, help your Muslim brothers against the devil and not vice versa. Prophet Muhammad mentioned that the believer is like a mirror to his brother, and if the latter commits any sins or mistakes he should correct him and not disregard him.

Ayah 79 in Surat-ul-Ma’idah means: They did not forbid one another the wrongdoings they were committing.

Learning the obligatory knowledge is a must upon every accountable Muslim. With the knowledge, we can differentiate between the lawful and the unlawful, we can guide others to the right path, and we become aware of what to say when necessary.

Ayah 110 in Surat Al Imran means: You are the best nation ever to be brought forth into this world bidding the lawful to the people and forbidding them from the unlawful.

Has each of you asked himself these questions? What have I done to advise those who are not praying? What should I say to them? How can I help them to fight the devil? Remember that following the saying of Ar-Rifa^iyy in its entirety is the answer to all those questions.

Good behavior and the Prophetic qualities are among the main reasons for the prosperity and achievements of our Ummah.

Dear brothers in Islam, let us help each other in spreading the true message. Let us be role models to our sons and daughters. Fathers and mothers should lead by example and adopt ethical methods in raising their children. Parents should rely on Allah in every matter and act always according to the noble teachings of Islam.

We humbly ask Allah to include us among those who follow the teachings of the Prophet and to grace us with piety.

Ameen.
